The Hubble Ultra Deep Field (HUDF) image
"The Hubble Ultra Deep Field" (above) is an image of a very small region of space and one that looks empty to an earth-bound viewer. The HUDF is the deepest image of the universe yet taken. It looks back over thirteen billion years and shows galaxies that existed four hundred to eight hundred million years after the Big Bang. This remarkable image contains an estimated ten thousand galaxies! What's out there? And, perhaps, more importantly: "Who's out there?"
